I'm Binni – a long-term traveller. In August 2021 I set off from Germany on a bike trip. The route I roughly planned at the start has changed several times by now; what has stayed is the still unknown date of my return.
I travel entirely for myself, out of pure enjoyment. As a quiet observer I move slowly from country to country, watching the people and their culture and breathing in the nature around me.

February 2013 – January 2014
My first big trip took me to New Zealand. Back then still without a bike, but with a big backpack. Right in Auckland I bought one of those typical backpacker vans and explored the country in it. I fell in love with being outdoors, living day by day and not knowing in the morning where I would sleep that night. On the flight home it was clear that this would not be my last trip.
August 2021 – November 2022
At the start of the big trip, the plan was to keep heading east until at some point I would have to take a ship to America. The route was meant to go through Iran and then along the Pamir Highway through Central Asia. I made it as far as Iran; after that, closed border crossings and political conflicts blocked my planned route.
November 2022 – November 2023
After spending the winter in Cyprus, there was still no prospect of borders opening up. So I cycled back through Turkey to Europe and then explored a few regions of Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova. For the summer I made a short visit home through Germany and then continued through Switzerland, Italy and France all the way to Catalonia.
December 2023 – February 2025
I arrived in Tampa by ship, but the USA was really just a transit country. The real adventure of this stage was to start in Mexico, my first Latin American country. And Mexico delivered – it was fantastic. But I wouldn't want to miss anything I got to experience on the way to Chile either. The Andes cast such a spell on me that I really have to cross them again.
March 2025 – Today
After such a long time of constant travelling, I felt the need for a break. Teaching at a German school abroad seemed ideal; it would even be the perfect chance to dive deeper into one particular culture. The German School in Santiago was right on my route and welcomed me warmly with its wonderful team of colleagues. By now, though, "Mathilda" – my new bike – is already waiting for her big trip ...

Hallo Binni, es war für mich sehr interessant zu lesen, wie du die Mittelamerikanischen Länder als Radreisender erlebt hast. Ich habe diese Länder mehrmals mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln bereist und ganz anders in Erinnerung, vor allem sicherer und ich war auch die meiste Zeit alleine unterwegs.
Du bist viel näher an allem dran. Natur, Menschen einfach an allem. Musst dir um ganz andere Sachen Gedanken machen. Ich hatte immer ein festes Dach über dem Kopf.

Ja als Radreisender ist es glaube ich anders als Rucksacktourist, man ist mehr mitten drin und das von allen Gesichtspunkten aus.

Hallo Binni, wir kennen uns nicht, aber durch Ulrik G. habe ich von ihrer Reise erfahren. Es war für mich sehr interessant ihre Tour zu verfolgen, da ich vor Jahren einige Länder davon auch bereiste. Natürlich nicht per Rad sondern als normaler Touri mit dem Auto. Florida 4 Wochen mit Studenten, 5 Wochen Australien und Neuseeland sowie 3 Wochen Peru. Da habe ich die Höhe von meist 3000m schon gespürt. Heute freue ich mich diese Reisen erlebt zu haben. Ihnen wünsche ich noch einen super Reiseverlauf mit wenig Komplikationen. Ich freue mich auf weitere super Fotos.

Heyho Paul, danke für deine lieben Worte. Ja, es ist schon eine verrückte Sache, dass zwei Verrückte aus dem kleinen Coswig sich auf so ner langen Radreise mitten in Peru treffen. Diese Begebenheit gehört irgendwie mit zu meinen ulkigsten Geschichten von der Reise.
